Interface Guidance

• Norton Antivirus 2010 interface is similar to last year’s version. The improved color scheme is easier on the eyes and information is more organized. The layout is clean and the terminology is friendly enough that novice users can understand. Clicking on the “I” next to each component provides more information.
• The two bars on the left represent Norton monitoring performance. System processor usage is given on the left, and Norton Antivirus 2010′s cut is on the right. This is basically Norton saying “I’m not taking up your system resources!” Clicking on the performance link opens up the Performance side of Norton Antivirus 2010.
• Overall security status is given in the upper left corner. The Computer section of the interface keeps tabs on local items and allows users to scan and run updates. Norton Antivirus 2010 updates itself automatically every hour.

What We Found

Norton Antivirus 2010 successfully scanned our system in around a minute, which by means of comparison is only around 10% faster than the previous version of Norton 360, but significantly quicker than most other rivals. As Norton gets used to your system however, these times are reduced, and in fact we very were impressed to see this drop to just 10 seconds during subsequent scans. It is an excellent progression for the series offering performance improvements, peace of mind as being very easy to use.
