PC Tools AntiVirus Free Edition comes in two free editions one without registration and other that needs to be registered. The difference,the later boasts of high-speed updates and support. It’s interface presents a minimum amount of buttons to control the application. PC Tools Antivirus Free Edition looks relatively good. It provides protection, with rapid database updates, Intelli Guard real-time file, Internet & e-mail protection and comprehensive system scanning to ensure your system remains safe and virus free. On The Lower Side

Novice users will find it tough to navigate the basic Help Function. Intermediate users will wish for better information before tackling any configuration changes. Pausing the scan is not possible. It does not come with Spyware protection. By default the software prompts you once a day for any available update but you have to turn on the updating manually. It misses the Auto update feature. It also lacks Scan-Schedule feature.

Our Experience

PC Tools AntiVirus Free Edition’s installation was smooth and easy. It slows the system a bit. Its detection rate was poor at 85%. It really bad at catching Trojans. Clean-up was good but its of no use when there’s such low percentage of detection. Uninstalltion did not create much of a problem.
