Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 Overview
Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 is an internet security suite that benefits from quick scanning and good adware blocking. It includes, Post Infected System Restore,a wizard that helps restore a system to a previous state when a virus or malicious software has caused a problem. In the case where malicious code has deleted system files. It has antivirus, antispyware, a personal firewall, antiphishing, antispam, and even antirootkit protection. It has an antispam feature that integrates with several email programs. Kaspersky has reportedly rewritten its antivirus engine to boost its scan speed. What We Found
Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 provides an excellent context-sensitive help file. For example, if you are on the Data Files page and you click Help, you’re taken to the entry for Data Files entry within the help file. It’s a small touch, but one we don’t see often enough.Kaspersky also delivers excellent online FAQ and knowledge base. There are also active user forums. Finally, you can e-mail or call a toll-free number for live technical support. It includes some significant changes to its malicious software engine and new security tools. However, we think the interface and the messaging around the new security tools could be much better. It provides adequate protection, but the program itself could use some work in telling the user what’s going on.
The execution of Kaspersky’s new Security Analyzer needs more work. It’s good that it checks with the Secunia database for the latest reported vulnerabilities and vendor updates. It is a totally new approach to data security. Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 provides adequate protection, but the program itself could use some work in telling the user what’s going on.
Pros:
- A fast malicious software engine
- Secunia vulnerability database
- Built-in system restore capabilities
- Free update to new version during license period
- Never slow down the computer
Cons:
- Results messages were unclear
- Installation could have been a lot smoother
- Leaves behind registry file after uninstall
- Integration with Mozilla’s Thuderbird email is a bit spotty.
- False positives tend to involve “not-a-virus” being identified incorrectly

~ i have used Kaspersky and it is a good anti-virus, my only complain about Kaspersky is that it uses more memory compared to other anti-virus like Avast,

Yes..i do understand that …however, the if you look out to the security part of the software, kaspersky is much better and has very frequent updates..u may not want to risk your assets just coz of memory usage, which is bit more….what say??

Kaspersky works better than Avg or Avast antivirus. Some viruses and trojan would not be detected by AVG but they are always detected by Kaspersky.

I always prefer to use Kasperky over Avast or McAfee. Kaspersky is much better in detecting new viruses and it does not consume too much resources on your dektop PC..;,
