Norton 360 3.0 Installation

Before you installing Norton 360 Version 3.0

Step 1 :  Check to see if the computer meets the minimum system requirements

To successfully install Norton 360 Version 3.0, your system must meet the following minimum

requirements :

Software

• Windows XP Home Service Pack 2 or later

• Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 or later

• Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 Service Pack 2 or later

• Windows Vista 32-bit and Vista 32-bit Service Pack 1 (Starter/Home Basic/Home Premium/Business/Ultimate)

• Windows Vista 64-bit and Vista 64-bit Service Pack 1 (Starter/Home Basic/Home Premium/Business/Ultimate)

• Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 (32-bit only) and later

Hardware

• 300-MHz or faster processor

• 256 MB of RAM; 512 MB Recommended

• 350 MB of available hard disk space

• CD-ROM or DVD drive

• Super VGA (800×600) or higher resolution video adapter and monitor

• Broadband or high-speed Internet connection (for online backup)

Step 2: Delete Windows temporary files

• Exit all programs.

• Run a tool to delete the temporary files.

STEP 3 :  Delete Temporary Internet files

• Open Internet Explorer.

• On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.

• On the General Tab, under Browsing History, click Delete.

• Click Delete files, and then click Yes.

• Click Delete cookies, and then click Yes.

• Click Close, and then click OK.

STEP 4

Prepare your system for installation

• Remove any other non-Symantec antivirus or firewall programs that are installed. To remove them, do one of the following depending upon your situation.

• [For Windows XP: Click Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove programs.]

• [For Windows Vista: Click the Start button, and then click Control Panel > Programs and Features.]

• In the list of current installed programs, click other non-Symantec antivirus or firewall programs, and then click Remove or Uninstall.

• Ensure that you are connected to the Internet.

• Exit all open programs on your computer, except for your Web browser.

STEP 5

Now to install Norton 360 Version 3.0

• Do one of the following:

• [If you purchased a CD, insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive, and then click Install Norton 360.]

• [If you downloaded your copy of Norton 360, double-click the file that you downloaded.]

• If you do not want to join Norton Community Watch, uncheck that option.

By default, this option is checked.

• If you want to change the default installation location of Norton program, click Install Options, and then click Browse to locate the new location. Click OK.

• Click User License Agreement, read the User License Agreement, and then click OK.

• Click Agree and Install.

After completing the installation, Norton 360 launches automatically.

• In the Norton 360 window, at the right bottom corner, click Activate Now.

• Type in your Product Key, and then click Next.

• In the Norton Account window, type in your email address and then click Next.

• Do one of the following:

• [If you currently have a Norton account, type the password.]

• [If you do not have a Norton account, complete the Create a Norton Account section, and then click Next.]

• Review your subscription details, and then click Done.

Norton 360 is sold with multi-user licenses. This varies by product and region. In order to take advantage of your multi-user purchase, please activate the product with the same product key.

After you install Norton 360 Version 3.0

STEP 1

Run LiveUpdate

• Start Norton 360.

• On the bottom-left corner, click Run LiveUpdate.

• When LiveUpdate finishes installing all the updates, click Close.

• Exit all the programs, and then restart the computer.

STEP 2

Run Comprehensive Scan

• Start Norton 360.

• Click Tasks.

• Click Run Scans.

• Click Comprehensive Scan, and then click Go.

• When the scan completes, click Finish.
