It will create an initial configuration of AVG in easy steps, allowing you to set the update and test schedules, and to update your AVG immediately. In case you decide to change any of the settings you chose during the First Run Wizard, you can do so easily in the AVG program. A description of the steps of First Run Wizard are described in FAQ 1408.

Please note that the First Run Wizard has to be completed, in order to ensure correct function of AVG.

If you are installing AVG using Installation Disc and do not want to install AVG from the Internet :

To install AVG from the Installation Disc, please proceed as follows:

Insert the Disc into your computer, its content should start automatically. In case this does not happen, please open My Computer – DVD drive, and run the file index.html.

Follow the installation wizard.

When prompted, please enter your full license number (we recommend to use the copy/paste method).

If the setup requires restart, please restart the computer to finish the installation.

In case there will be any problems with any part of this procedure, please describe them in as much detail as possible and inform us about them. Please send us also the AVG installation log file (avg8inst.log). You can contact us using our web form.

This DNS is located in the computer cache and by further connections to the same network source this computer resolves the server DNS from cache. This option accelerates work of the LAN or Internet but decreases the computer security level.

Step 14:

The Configuration wizard suggests you to participate in the system Kaspersky Security Network. The system allows you to automatically send information about virus infections as well as extended statistics on loaded or executed applications. This information is processed by Kaspersky Lab’s experts and allows them to react faster to emerging threats and to constantly improve our products. Click the Next link to continue.
What to do if you encounter an installation errors like these

1. The cabinet file required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used

Cause: This error can be caused by an incomplete / incorrect download of the setup kit or the CD cannot be read correctly.

Solution: We would recommend you to download the setup kit (again) from the internet and only run it once the download is complete.

2. Setup_kit.exe is not a valid win32 application

Cause: This error can be caused by an incomplete / incorrect download of the setup kit or the CD cannot be read correctly.

Solution: We would recommend you to download the setup kit (again) from the internet and only run it once the download is complete.

3. bdav.msi / bdis.msi / bdts.msi cannot be found

Cause: You are trying to install BitDefender using the ~300KB installer, which is actually downloading the MSI package during the installation. If the download fails at some point the installation package will become corrupt and the setup will not continue.

Solution: We would recommend you to download the complete setup kit from the internet and only run it once the download is complete.

4. There is not enough space for file swapping

Solution: We would recommend you to download the complete setup kit from the internet and only run it once the download is complete.

5. The operating system is not supported by the BitDefender product.

Please check if you meet the system requirements:

For BitDefender 2009 you must have one of the following operating systems:

Windows XP with at least Service Pack 2

Windows Vista or

Windows Home Server

6. This installation package is not supported by this processor type. Error 1633

Cause: You have tried to install BitDefender using either a 32bit setup kit on a 64bit operating system or a 64 bit installation kit on a 32bit operating system.

Solution: Check if you are running a 32bit or a 64bit operating system (following the instructions below) and then install BitDefender using the proper setup kit (if you are using a 64bit operating system, download and then run the 64bit setup kit).

In order to find out if you have a 32bit or 64 bit operating system, rightclick on the My computer (Windows XP) / Computer (Windows Vista) icon and select Properties.

For Windows XP:

In the General tab from the window that pops up, under System and after “service pack 1/2/3″ it either says 64b (in which case you have a 64bit operating system) or it doesn’t say anything else (in which case you have a 32bit operating system).

For Windows Vista:

Under System, you should find a field named “System type” which says if you have a 32bit or a 64bit operating system.

7. Another version of this product is already installed. Error 1638

Solution: In order to make sure all the BitDefender files have been removed from the computer, run the uninstall tool from this location: Uninstall
Make sure to save it on your computer and only run it after the download has completed.

8. Invalid drive G / H / I / J / K….

Cause: At some point you used an external storage device to which the above letter was assigned. When you removed the drive Windows did not completely remove the information related to that drive being connected, hence when you try to install BitDefender it tries to find that particular drive to access it, but since it is not present the installation fails.

Solution: Connect a memory stick to the computer and assign it the drive letter G / H / I / J / K….

In order to do this, you will have to rightclick on (My) Computer and select Manage, select Disk management (under Storage), rightclick on the memory stick’s partition and select Change drive letter and path. Select it, click on Change and select the letter. After this, try to install BitDefender again.

9.Error 1935. An error occured during the installation of assembly component {63E949F6-03BC-5C40-A01F-C8B3B9A1E18E}. HRESULT: 0x800736FD

This error message occurs only on Windows Vista. We would recommend you to install the latest Windows updates and then run the installer package. BitDefender uses certain Windows components which are included in the latest Windows Updates, hence updating your operating system will allow BitDefender to install properly on your PC.

Trial version is fully-functioning, however when a trial period expires the anti-virus databases will not be updated.
If the option “Activate trial license” is missed, it means the trial version a) was already installed or b) is installed now.
3. Activate later. If you choose this option, the Kaspersky Internet Security activation stage will be skipped. The application will be installed on your computer, all its options will be available to you, except for the update.

In the field “Enter the activation code”, enter the activation code you obtained when purchasing the license. An activation code should be entered from the keyboard in Latin ONLY without any hyphens. The program calculates the number of entered symbols and automatically adds a hyphen where necessary.
If you are not asked to activate, the wizard has detected your existing valid license.

The Setup Wizard will connect with the Kaspersky Lab server and will download a license key file. Please, wait while the wizard activates your Kaspersky Internet Security 2010.

After the activation of your license you will see a window showing the License type and Expiration date. Click Next.

The Setup Wizard analyzes the system information and creates rules for trusted applications which are included to the Windows operating system. Wait till the process is completed.
